CB-IR and BIR
The competency-based route opens instrument flying to experienced private pilots: your IFR experience or flight hours are credited, and the theory lightens accordingly.
The CB-IR leads to the same IR rating as the classic route, with a programme adjusted to acquired experience — the extent of the credit is set at an entry assessment in the air and on the ground. The BIR, more accessible, opens instrument flying in Europe with adapted minima. Our simulators are named on the course approval for both routes.
Which route to choose
The CB-IR suits the pilot aiming for the full IR while valuing existing experience — IFR hours abroad, instrument flying under supervision. The BIR prioritises access: a modular programme designed for the private pilot, without the theoretical demands of the professional course.
The choice is made on file, in an interview with the head of training: the entry assessment determines the credit and the quote, at the published hourly rate.
