Becoming an examiner
The culmination of the instructor’s path: assessing. Four examiner courses appear on our approval, together with the Examiner Core Course and the renewal seminars.
We run the Flight Examiner (FE), Class Rating Examiner (CRE), Instrument Rating Examiner (IRE) and Flight Instructor Examiner (FIE) courses, as well as the prior Examiner Core Course and the renewal seminars. The designation of an examiner is a matter for the authority; the high experience requirements are checked on file before enrolment.
The role
The examiner conducts skill tests and proficiency checks on behalf of the authority. The standardisation course prepares for that role: conducting a test, judgement, reporting and decision.
Several of the school’s instructors are active examiners — which lets us organise tests without depending on an external calendar, and grounds these courses in real practice.
